TRACY- Services for Yer Hang (Jerry Hang), 74 of Tracy will be held at Horvath Funeral Service in Tracy, Minnesota on November 6th and 7th 2021. Visitation will be open from 8:00 A.M to 10:00 P.M on both days. Yer Hang will be buried alongside family members on November 8th at 1:00 P.M at Oakland Cemetery in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Yer Hang was born on June 30, 1947 in Bang Nonghate Xie Khoung, Laos and joined the Laotian Army National Guard in 1960 at the age of 14. He served as a foot soldier and later as an officer, in the Secret Hmong Army recruited by the CIA in the 1960s to help America's war efforts in Southeast Asia. Officer Hang's duties centered on ambushing and destroying the flow of weapons coming from North Vietnam, down the Ho Chi Minh Trail into South Vietnam, and rescuing downed American pilots from the thick jungle of Laos. Near the end of his service, he was named the Commander of SGU GM-22 of Long Cheng, Laos and Officer S-2 of the Secret Hmong Army.
In 1975 Yer Hang and his family were forced to flee from the brutal Communists of Laos known as the Pathet Lao and cross the dangerous Mekong River to safety in Thailand. In 1978, from refugee camps in Thailand, Yer and his family came to America and settled in Providence, Rhode Island. In 1995, Yer and his family moved to Tracy, Minnesota which to this very day, remains his families home.
Yer unexpectedly flew to his heavenly home on Oct 15, 2021. Yer is survived by his wife, Sheng Kue Hang, son, Kong Hang, daughters, Ka, Nancy, Tru, Tang, Manila and Jillian and 29 grandchildren, he was preceded in death by his son, Blong (Bruce) Hang and daughter, Foua Hang.
