Thomas Rock Fier

Thomas Rock Fier was born on October 24th, 1953, in Canby, Minnesota to Donald (Don) and Patricia (Pat) (Schirber) Fier. Tom grew up on his parent’s family farm outside of Taunton, Minnesota and attended school in Minneota, Minnesota where he graduated from in 1971.

After graduating high school, he went on to Canby Vo-Tech for Welding. After completing Vo-Tech, he worked in Ortonville, Minnesota for a year before returning home to the family farm, which became his life’s work and passion.

On June 20th, 1974, he was united in marriage to Kathleen (Meulebroeck) Fier. After their marriage, they moved out to the family farm where they raised their three children.

Tom’s biggest joy in life was his farm, camping and especially spending time with his 7 grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

Tom died on Monday, July 27, 2026, at the age of 72 after a courageous and long battle with cancer.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Fier. Children: Kimberly (Kim Abraham) Fier of Ghent, Christopher (Karen) Fier of Taunton, and Heather (Seth) Hasert of Taunton. His 7 grandchildren: Khailynn Fier, Jade Abraham, Cameron Fier, Reese Fier, Bria Abraham, Rosie Hasert and Rhett Hasert. Siblings: Don (Mary) Fier, Wally (Mary) Fier, Cathy (Don) Korman, Paula (Steve) Lynn, Margaret (Mark) Paulson, Bev (Ron) Wambeke, Laurie (Jon) Claeys, Jim (M’Liss) Fier, Tim (Gary) Fier, brother-in-law, Dale Marble and many nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Donald (Don) and Patricia (Pat) Fier, and sister, Mary Marble.

A gathering to commemorate Tom’s life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Taunton Senior Center from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
