Shirley Ann (Eischens) Sussner was born on May 28, 1950, in Canby, to Irvin and Genevieve (VanDerostyne) Eischens. She attended St. Leo Catholic School and graduated from Canby High School. On June 12, 1971, she was united in marriage to Ron Sussner at St. Leo Catholic Church. Before she was married, Shirley worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone. While raising her family, she also did daycare. She was later the Office Manager for the Lyon County Co-op in Ghent and Partner and Office Manager for Franks Electric. Shirley enjoyed knitting, baking and flower gardening. She played the organ at St. Leo and St. Eloi Catholic Church. She was passionate about her family. She enjoyed spending time with her children and their families and especially enjoyed following the grandchildrenâs activities.
Shirley was called home on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She is survived by her husband, Ron, of Ghent, children Michelle Sussner of Marshall, Jeff (and Nacole) Sussner of Minneota, Jayme (and Jodi) Sussner of Chaska, Jodi Sussner of Ghent, Steve (and Stacy) Sussner of Ghent, grandchildren Brandon, Lydia, Logan, Lyzah, Libby, Grant, Taylor, Tristen, Kade and Briggs, siblings Leonard (and Linda) Eischens, Larry (and Florence) Eischens, Dennis (and Judy) Eischens, Roger (and Lori) Eischens, Barbara (and Bill) Natte, JoAnn Downing, Cindy (and Mike) Sanow, Ronald (and Jackie) Eischens, Allan (and Robin) Eischens, Daryl (and Cindy) Eischens, and Doug Eischens, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother Dean, brother-in-law Greg Downing, nieces Jordan and Angela and nephew Brandon.
