Shirlee Jean Bailey was born on September 6, 1932, in Minneota, to Jules and Sophie (Loke) Dirckx. The family lived in Franklin for a few years, then moved to Marshall where Shirlee attended St. Josephâs Academy through 8th grade and later graduated from Marshall High School in 1950. She was baptized, received first communion and was confirmed at Holy Redeemer Church. On August 7, 1954, she was united in marriage to Donald Bailey. To this union were born six children: Stephanie, Jeffrey, Mark, Patrick, Timothy and Gretchen. Shirlee spent her life raising her family and enjoying a wide circle of friends. She and Don traveled and spent time at their lake home with family. Shirlee also enjoyed playing bridge.
Shirlee died on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at Heritage Pointe Senior Living in Marshall. She is survived by her children Stephanie (and Ron) Rollenhagen of Waseca, Jeffrey Bailey (and Krystal Berentson) of Pipestone, Mark (and Kelly) Bailey of Marshall, Patrick (and Janet) Bailey of Redwood Falls, Timothy (and Lynn) Bailey of North Mankato, Gretchen Peila of Billings, MT, grandchildren Michael Cunningham (special friend Robyn,) Megan (and Josh) Lynch, Molly (and Nick) Ulschmid, Breanna (and Jameson) Abel, Luke Bailey, Cory Bailey, Nathan (and Erika) Wilson, Charlie Wilson, Alex Wilson, Matthew Bailey, Christopher (and Anne) Bailey, Zachary Bailey, Denae Bailey, Colin Bailey, Kayla Fischer, Alexis Bauer-Bailey, Brandon Flom (fiancé Anna), Ryan Trench, Jordan Peila, Jarek (and Anika) Peila, Jacob Peila, and Chloe Peila. Shirlee was âGGâ to Brayden, Jace, Bailey (due August 7), Cash, Cruz, Kennedy, Lincoln, McKinley, Ruby, Makhia, Tyrone, Emmett, Elwood, Liam, Londyn, Jasper, Logan and Matilda, sister Geraldine Kerkvliet, sister-in-law Jean Dirckx, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, brother Edwin (and Louise) Dirckx, brother Francis Dirckx and brother-in-law Bernard Kerkvliet.
