Roland Herman Peters was born on October 21, 1923, in Stanley Township, to Herman and Agnes (Kelly) Peters. He grew up on the family farm in Stanley Township. On June 2, 1947, he was united in marriage to Esther Kindler at St. Clotilde Catholic Church in Green Valley. The couple raised their family a short distance from where Roland grew up. He worked for Carlson & Stewart Refrigeration from the mid 1960âs until his retirement in 1986. Roland enjoyed fishing and spending time at the lake place in Brainerd. He also enjoyed music. He played the accordion, sang with the Marshall Menâs Chorus and directed the choir for a time at St. Clotilde Catholic Church. He was an active member of his church where he taught religious education.
Roland died suddenly on Sunday, July 5, 2015, at his lake residence in Brainerd, MN. He is survived by his wife, Esther, of Marshall, children Ellen Hawkinson (and Jim Costigan) of Sturgeon Bay, WI, Gene (and Laura) Peters of Stewartville, MN, Kenneth Peters of Stillwater, grandchildren Kimberly, Kristina, Brittney (and Jesse), Brianna and Tyler, great-grandchildren Kyle, Brayden and Liliana, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers Roger and Robert and sisters Marion and Helen.
