The funeral service for Rochelle “Shelly” Lindquist, 66, of Balaton, will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2020, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Marshall. A walk through visitation will be Thursday, September 3, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the church, with sharing of memories at 7:30 p.m and continue one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will take place at Lakeside Cemetery in Balaton. Rochelle, daughter of Paul and Lorraine (Maland) Larsen was born on September 2, 1953, among the majestic Rocky Mountains in Spanish Fork, Utah. She spent her early years in Orem, and later in Mapleton, Utah. After graduating from Springville High School, Shelly pursued an interest in becoming a beautician by attending Mary Kawakami’s School of Beauty in Provo, Utah. She met Leo R. Lindquist while attending church together and were later married for time and eternity in the Manti Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Friday, May 13, 1977. She enjoyed her work as a beautician before welcoming her son Chris into the world – the first of five. While pregnant with her fifth son, they made the move from Utah to Minnesota, where Leo was from. Years passed and with all her boys in school, she found time outside of the home to help occasionally at the Balaton School, in the kitchen and as an aide, and, later to work as a part-time custodian for the Latter-Day Saints buildings in Marshall and Pipestone. Shelly loved collecting various dolls and became a gifted seamstress. She created clothing for herself and family, as well as countless items and gifts with needle and thread. Shelly was an avid reader and consumed dozens and dozens of books over many years. She worked hard and was a great asset to her husband and boys. She spent many summers tending the family vegetable garden and caring for her many plants and flowers around their acreage west of Balaton. She packed countless school lunches for her boys, mended their torn clothing, cut their hair, and treated their many scrapes and bruises. These simple and innumerable deeds attest to the boundless love and devotion she had for her family. While under hospice care, she passed through the veil, at home with her family, into that great world of spirits, on August 26, at the age of 66 years, one week short of her 67th birthday. She is survived by her husband, sons Chris (and Krystal) of Litchfield, Minnesota; Brad (and Sarah) of Manassas, Virginia; Cameron (and Christyn) of Marshall, Minnesota, and Michael (and Lisa) of Waxahachie, Texas, as well as sixteen loved grandchildren, three sisters, and five brothers, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and premature son, David Reed.
