Robert Lee Carr
Robert was born in Lincoln County on May 24, 1931, to Thomas and Theresa (Sovell) Carr, the fifth of seven children. On September 1, 1956 Robert married Phyllis Mortier at St. Eloiâs Catholic Church in Ghent, MN. Robert was a proud Army Airborne Veteran, serving from 1951-1954. After his discharge from the Army, Robert returned to the area and started working construction, founding Robert L. Carr Company. Robert enjoyed working and continued to work daily until shortly before his death. Aside from work, Robert enjoyed going to the YMCA regularly, playing cards, and planning and going on hunting and fishing trips. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Robert took great pride in cooking for the family, and created many holiday traditions centered around food, which was enjoyed with love and laughter by all. Robert also took great pride in Marshall and the surrounding communities. He had a passion for education, which was the focus of his philanthropy to the Marshall community. He also enjoyed spending time mentoring members of the community and being a large supporter of childrenâs activities. Robert is survived by his wife, Phyllis; children, Tom (Annette), Pat (Tim) Lutterman, and James (Gail); grandchildren, Alyssa (BJ) Labat, Brian Carr, Becky Carr, Sarah (Cory) LeClere, Laura Lutterman, Brianne Lyons, Kendra Willcockson, and Garrett Spriggs; great-grandsons, Harrison and Charles LeClere, Brendan Labat, and one great-granddaughter on the way; siblings, Elaine Cain, Madge (Bruce) Romalia, JoAnn (Dale) Dinkel; sister-in-law, Joan Carr and many loving nieces, nephews, family, friends and his four-legged companion, Lacey. Robert was a classmate in High School in Ivanhoe. I have followed his career over the years and been so proud of his accomplishments. Now to learn of his philanthropy puts him in a class all his own. I haven't heard of any other classmate to make so many wonderful charitable donations. I am extending my condolences to his family. Sincerely, Helen Heinzen Bovenmyer.
