He continued to coach and teach at Central Catholic High School for five years. In 1965 he started his thirty-year career with State Farm Insurance Companies in Marshall. God called his beloved wife Shirley in 1995. He also retired from State Farm that year.

Bob was active in the Marshall community over the years. He was active at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, a member of the Resurrection Choir, served as a Eucharistic Minister and past member of the parish council. He was a member of the board of directors on the SMSU Foundation for nearly 28 years. He volunteered with the “Meals On Wheels” program. He was most proud to serve on the first board of the YMCA, serving as its chairman the first six years. He organized the United Way of Marshall and he was a member of the Marshall Rotary Club from 1965 – 2023.
He loved to go to St. John’s University to attend many functions, but mainly to watch the Johnnies play football. He had played on John Gagliardi’s first championship team in 1953. Since his retirement, he has enjoyed doing volunteer work in Marshall.
Bob was an avid Vikings fan, he never missed a game. Camp Kawinogans held a special place in his heart and he often shared the camaraderie of a Canadian fishing trip with his friends and family.

He fought the good fight and finished the race. He kept the faith. He was fully aware that one of the most beautiful and frightening qualities of our eternity is the knowledge that we surely cooperated in creating it for ourselves.
