Mass of Christian Burial for Richard Nuese, 69, of Cottonwood, will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 11, 2023, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with a CCW Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a Parish Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall. Visitation will continue on Monday from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at the remembrance center. Interment will follow the service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall. Richard Francis Nuese was born on April 19, 1954, in Marshall, to Terrence and Shirley (Dobias) Nuese. He grew up attending Marshall Public Schools and graduated from Marshall High School in the spring of 1973. On January 13, 1973, Richard was united in marriage to Cheryl (Wakefield) Nuese. Together the couple has four children: Melissa, Laurie, Chad and Kristie. They raised their family in Cottonwood, MN.
Richard always put his family first. He enjoyed having cattle and restoring old tractors. He loved to have his grandkids around and helping him on the farm. When Richard was away from the farm, he worked in the cabinet plant and drove truck hauling cabinets, feed, milk and gas for over 50 years. He had many wonderful memories with his family and friends. Over the years, he enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, driving tractor, riding horse and many other things.
Richard died unexpectedly at his residence in rural Cottonwood on Monday, December 4, 2023. He is survived by his wife Cheryl; children Melissa (Scott) Gile of Cottonwood, Laurie (Tom) Rothery of Gilbert, AZ, Chad (Stacie) Nuese of Minneota, Kristie Nuese of Cottonwood; grandchildren Makenzie (Collin) Thompson, Logan Gile, Megan Gile, Noah Wilkens, Jaxon Rothery, Kamden Rothery and step-grandchild Ty Baune; siblings John (Linda) Nuese, Doug (Cindy) Nuese; in-laws Laurance (Margaret) Wakefield, Linda (Galen) Boerboom, Les (Linda) Wakefield, Dianne (George) Raymond, Rick (Lori) Wakefield, Nancy (Tim) Swanson and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Terrence and Shirley Nuese, parents-in-law Richard and Lorraine Wakefield and many family and friends that left before him.
