Rena Marie (Washburn) Lockwood was the first born of identical twins to Charles and Mary (Hansen) Washburn on a farm, now the site of Xcel Power on the Mississippi River in Monticello, MN. The twins graduated from Monticello High School, played girls basketball and were state champions. Chester (Chet) Lockwood and Rena were married on September 30, 1936. They lived in Elk River, MN, and moved to Marshall, MN, in 1955 when Chet opened Lockwood Motors. Rena worked for JC Penny for more than 20 years. She belonged to the Weiner Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary. Rena enjoyed playing bridge and cribbage, following the Minnesota Twins and driving Cadillacs.
Rena died on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. She is survived by her daughter Jean Moon of Mesa, AZ, grandsons Jon (and Kelli) and Jud, son Bob (and Lisa) Lockwood of Ft. Myers Beach, FL, grandchildren Matthew, Chester (and Nicole,) Nicholas (and Brittinni,) son Dan (and Patricia Ann) Lockwood of Santa Rosa, CA, grandchildren Joe and Dawn, daughter Lorie (and Jeff) Iverson of Eden Prairie, MN, granddaughters Katie(fiancé Daniel) and Leah, five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Chester, and six siblings.
