Phyllis Tanghe

Phyllis (Foley) Tanghe was born on November 10, 1923, in Tracy, MN, to Daniel and Luella (Ford) Foley. She grew up in Tracy and graduated from Tracy High School. On April 18, 1944, she was united in marriage to Ernest Tanghe. The couple farmed and raised their family in rural Marshall. Phyllis was a very kind, gentle person, and happy homemaker. She enjoyed socializing with her friends and family. She spent her time gardening, canning, crocheting and playing cards. She was a 4-H leader and, in her later years, volunteered as a driver for Lyon County Human Services. She tended to the Holy Redeemer Church garden. She enjoyed the outdoors including camping and fishing. Her Catholic faith was also very important to her. She and Ernest prayed a daily rosary together. Phyllis was an active member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America. Phyllis died on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall. She is survived by her children Ronald (and Cherie) Tanghe of Victoria, MN, Roger (and Alice) Tanghe of Owens Cross Roads, AL, Mark Tanghe of Marshall, Greg (and Darlys) Tanghe of Marshall, Theresa (and Dale) Wold of Cokato, MN, Karen (and Kenneth) Newman of Renner, SD, 22 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. So sorry to hear about your mother. I was always very impressed with her- in spite of the many adversities she had in her life, she always, somehow, was able to smile. Now she is re-united with those she lost-good for her! Jim Foley (as Uncle Jim used to call me-the other Jim Foley
