Ona Olevson

Ona Louise (Yeo) Olevson, age 98, of Minneota passed away Friday, December 30, 2022 at the Avera Nursing Home in Tyler, MN.  A memorial service for Ona will be held at Horvath Remembrance Center in Minneota on Friday, January 20^th at 1:00 p.m. with a public visitation beginning an hour prior. The commital service will take place at Hope Lutheran Cemetery following the memorial service. 

Ona was born February 20^th, 1924 to Albert “Bert” and Ona (Struthers) Yeo in Minneota, MN. She graduated from Minneota Public High School in 1942.  She was married to Bert T. Olevson on November 2, 1952 and together they raised four children; Duane, Louise, Janet, and Dean.  Bert and Ona farmed north of Minneota until 1973 after which they owned and operated a motel in Benson, MN. After the passing of her husband Bert in 1978, Ona sold the motel and moved back to the family farm where she was born. 

Ona had a passion for the arts. Some of her favorite activities include crocheting, sewing, painting, and Rosemaling. Ona enjoyed spending time with her family and often baked special treats for them.

Ona is survived by her children Duane (Julia) Olevson, Louise (Larry) Schultz, Dean (Sonya) Olevson, 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Bert Olevson, parents Bert and Ona Yeo, daughter Janet Olevson, brothers Bob (Inez) Yeo, Bert (DeLores) Yeo, sister Ada (Gene) Raymond, mother and father-in-law Eliza and Bert Olevson, sisters-in-law Alice (Irvin) Johnson and Ethel (Merlin) Johnson."
