Mass of Christian Burial for Omer Laleman, 99, of Minneota, will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026, at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Minneota. Visitation will continue Friday from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. at the remembrance center. Interment with military honors will follow the service at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery.

Omer Andrew Laleman, 99, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026, at the Clarkfield Care Center in Clarkfield, MN.

Omer was born on Easter Sunday April 17, 1927, in rural Minneota to Maurice and Helene (Slembrouck) Laleman. He had lived around Minneota all of his life except for his time in the Army signal corps during the Korean War and his last years at the Clarkfield Care Center. On January 25, 1956, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Zona Marie Koenigs of Canby. They farmed and raised their family 9 miles northeast of Minneota (using red IHC machinery). In 1987, they moved to Minneota, Omer still farmed for many years after that. Omer and Zona both enjoyed playing cards especially bien and 500, going to old-time dances, and traveling to Europe (7 countries), Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, California, Hawaii and13 farm tours around United States. Omer also enjoyed woodworking and had a large garden that he shared with neighbors and friends. He was very active in the American Legion (commander for 2 years, adjutant for 18 years, hall manager for 20 years), in the Round-Up Office (secretary/office manager for 18 years), and in St. Edward Catholic church (life-long member, trustee for 20 years, usher for masses and funerals).

He is survived by children Catherine Williams of Forest City, IA, Helen Laleman of Eden Prairie, Robert (Teresa) Laleman of Rapid City, SD, and Steven (Laurie) Laleman of Starbuck, MN; grandchildren Ryan (Kaleigh) Laleman of Avondale, AZ, Nicole Laleman of Pierre, SD, Kyle Laleman of Marshall and Heather Laleman of Marshall; great-grand daughter Maesyn Laleman of Avondale, AZ; sibling Etien Laleman; over 40 nieces and nephews; and many more relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by wife Zona on October 23, 2012, his parents, siblings and spouses Joe and Bertha Laleman, Daniel and Agnes Laleman, Elmo and Bernice Wyffels, Amandus and Leona Thooft, Harold and Mary Ann Buysse, Marian Laleman, sister-in-law Colleen Koenigs and son-in-law Dan Williams.
