Nancy Faye McLellan was born on February 19, 1939, in Trimont, MN, to Chrystobel (Marsh) and Thomas McLellan. Nancy was the oldest of three daughters. She grew up in Trimont, MN, surrounded by lots of cousins. At 14, her family moved to Spencer, IA, where she graduated from Spencer High School in 1957. Nancy met Jim the summer before her senior year and they were united in marriage on August 25 of 1957. They shared 58 years together living in several places and developing many lasting friendships along the way. They had two daughters; Linda and Susan. Nancy graduated from Spencer School of Business in 1980 and she worked as an Insurance Secretary for 25 years.

Nancy was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and beloved friend to many. Nancy and Jim complimented each other so well. They both loved the Lord and put Him first in their life. Their life centered around sharing the gospel with others by using their many gifts and talents.

Nancy was an accomplished seamstress from very young. She made with love her families clothes including special occasion dresses and Susan’s wedding dress. Her family were the recipients of quilts, purses, repurposed items and many clever and useful gifts. She made memory bears for others and when Jim died, she blessed friends and family with bears and pillows made with his clothes. She loved crafts, gardening, bird watching, reading, cooking, playing games with her family and spending precious summer vacations with her sisters Jean and Mary. Nancy and Jim gave to many missionaries, taught bible studies and hosted small groups. She gave special talks at Ladies groups, volunteered at VBS and Awana and mentored other women in the faith. She was a true prayer warrior loved by many.

After moving to Tracy, MN, in 2010, she was active at Lake Sarah Baptist Church. She joined Garden Club and Sorosis Study Club where she met and became friends with many special ladies.

Nancy passed away at home, surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, November 23. She is survived by her daughters Linda McDaniel (Dave) of Des Moines, IA, and her children Amanda (Marcus) Frerk and Jonathon (Becca) McDaniel, daughter Susan (Terry) Nelson of Tracy, MN, and their children Thomas (Krista) Nelson, Asa (Morgan) Nelson, Jessica (Mitchell) Snyder, Tony Nelson, great-grandchildren Ty and Chrystobel, sisters Donna Jean McLellan of Blaine, MN, and Mary Harmon of Floral Park, NY, and other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Nancy and Jim were my parents Jerry and Ann Rivere's best friends in the Air Force at Donaldson Air Force Base in Greenville South Carolina. That is where I was born. My parents and your parents remained friends all through the years. They visited and we talked on the phone. I loved your parents! I am so sorry for your loss but I know sweet Nancy and Jim are together once again in Heaven and with our dear Lord. Praise God no more pain. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I met dear soul Nancy once (when she accompanied her sister Mary at a music practice of a faith preschool). She was so nice, faith-filled, energetic and lovely...Was an honor to meet Mary's sister, and light of our Saviour shown through her - as does with all her family. Prayers, deepest condolences and 💓love so sincerely sent. Nancy's with our Maker, loved ones, and in Spirit with all her family - always🙏🏻

I remember, with fond memories, the times I was with both Nancy and Jim. Though their is sadness in her earthly departure, we find comfort knowing she is now with her Lord and Savior, Jesus. Psalm 30:5 encourages us that His mercy is sure, "…weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning." May God comfort and bless you with the assurance that Nancy is in the loving arms of God.
