Visitation will continue on Monday from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow the service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Tracy.
Maxine Delores Timmerman was born on May 30, 1945, to Nels and Myrtle (Warne) Paulson in DeSmet, SD. She was the seventh of eleven children. Maxine spent her childhood in South Dakota. As a child, Maxine had fun dressing up the kittens in doll clothes, playing in the snow and sledding on the ice. She also liked hiding in the cornfield so the dog could find her and playing ball. She graduated from Erwin High School in 1964 and was involved in music and the class play.
On August 28, 1965, Maxine was united in marriage to her life-long partner, George Victor Timmerman in Tracy, MN at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. They celebrated over 60 years together and shared many happy memories. They lived on the homestead in Minnesota to help out with the farm work. Next, they lived in a mobile home around Iowa while George worked in road construction for 12 years. They welcomed their first daughter Patricia in 1966, their second daughter Connie in 1967, and their third daughter Sherrie in 1971. They bought a house in Eldridge, Iowa when Patty was ready to start school. Maxine was a busy homemaker but found the time to take her girls on a few outings, including walking to the library and the doughnut shop. She was a devoted wife and mother.
In 1977, she moved with her family to Minnesota as George took over the family farm. She helped with all the farm work, including the livestock and field work. She enjoyed gardening and canning her own food. She liked looking out the window at all the pretty flowers and all the different birds flying around. She relished visiting with people and was always making new friends. Maxine was mostly a stay-at-home mom, but she did work at the Balaton Nursing Home for a short time as a kitchen aide.
Maxine enjoyed watching The Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, and The Wall. She had fun playing cards and working on word search finds. Maxine and George traveled when they were able and visited many different places including Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Missouri and Texas. She always wanted to go to Hawaii and was able to fulfill this memorable dream trip. Maxine and George went on a yearly family vacation to Wisconsin Dells with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She adored getting together with her sisters and all the excursions they would go on. She also loved spending time with her family. She had a kind heart and was a very special lady.
Maxine died peacefully at Ava’s Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD surrounded by family on Friday, December 19, 2025, after her battle with congestive heart failure. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.
Maxine is survived by her daughters, Patty (Eric) Miller and Connie Timmerman (special friend Dylan); three grandchildren, Elizabeth Timmerman, Justin Miller (Angie), and Samantha Miller; three great-grandchildren, Damien Zadlo, Melanie Peterson, and Deklan Miller; and three siblings, Diann Stanley, Beverly Nelson, and Gordon Paulson. She is preceded in death by her husband, George Timmerman; her daughter, Sherrie Timmerman; her parents, Nels and Myrtle Paulson; and seven siblings, Shirley Holland, Marjean Patzwald, Roger Paulson, Garen Paulson, Kay Kline, Donna Halverson, and Marilyn Paulson.
