The funeral service for Mavis Christians will be Friday, April 12, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Balaton United Methodist Church. A public visitation will take place at church from beginning at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Balaton.

Mavis Joy (Johnson) Christians was born July 8, 1930 to Victor and Mary (Lutterman) Johnson in Sibley, Iowa. She attended school in Allendorf, Iowa and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

On September 27, 1947 she married Harris J. Christians in Sibley, Iowa. The couple farmed by Little Rock and Ocheyedan, Iowa until 1959 they bought a farm and moved to Balaton, Minnesota.  Mavis was a homemaker, drove school bus, and worked in the Balaton Nursing Home. Mavis lived on the farm until 2012 when she moved to Bonsall, California where she made her home with her son and daughter.

Her hobbies included playing cards, crocheting and needle point.  She was especially fond of spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great  grandchildren.

Mavis died November 24, 2023 peacefully at her home in Bonsall, California at the age of 93.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Arvidson of Bonsall, California, Lena (Joe) Kirk of Sacred Heart, Minnesota and Darnell (Gary) Root of Florida: one son Jerry (Deb) Christians of Bonsall, California : ten grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, 2 sons Lyle Jean and Marvin Dale her parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters .
