Mary Pearl Ufkin was born on September 17, 1919, in Berrien County, Michigan, to Bert and Mary (Baker) King. In 1966, she was united in marriage to Peter Sales. To this union was born son Jack Stanley Sales. After Peter’s death, she was married to Vernon Johnston from 1974 until his death in 1988. Mary enjoyed wintering in Arizona, where she met Virgil Ufkin. In 1998, she moved to Minneota and the couple was married on September 11, 1998. Mary worked at the Everett Piano Company in South Haven, MI, for more than 22 years. She enjoyed shuffle board, playing golf, and playing cards at the Senior Center in Minneota. Mary died on Tuesday, November 08, 2016, at the Minneota Manor in Minneota. She is survived by her husband, Virgil, of Minneota, step children Bill (and Alison) Ufkin of Minneota, Jean Ufkin of Minneapolis, Richard (and Julie) Johnston of Bangor, MI, Donald Johnston of Bangor, MI, Jeanette Strasser of Bangor, MI, Joanne Derhammer (Dave) of Mattawan, MI, grandchildren Monica Daniel, Donald Sales, Kathleen Sales, Karen Sales, David sales, step-grandson Tony Ufkin, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two spouses, son Jack Sales and step-granddaughter Emily Ufkin.
