Mitzi was born on April 19, 1962, in Marshall, to Dennis and Joan (Wagner) Tomasek.  She attended St. Edward Catholic School and Minneota High School where she graduated in 1980.  She then attended SSU for one year before marrying the love of her life: Scott Buckingham.  The couple resided in Marshall where they raised their two daughters: Kelli and Kristi.  When her girls were small, Mitzi was a stay at home mom and also did home daycare.  In 1992, she started what would turn out to be a 28 year career with Schwan Food Company where she worked in Customer Service and Food Quality and Safety.

Mitzi enjoyed traveling.  Her favorite place to visit was St. Pete’s Beach, FL.  She spent many hours walking the beach, collecting shells and shark’s teeth and enjoying the beautiful sunsets with a margarita in her hand.

Nothing meant more to Mitzi than her family and her friends.  She was blessed with six grandchildren and loved sleepovers, pool parties, and going to their sporting events.  Mitzi and her family are so grateful for all of the love and support she received from her Prayer Warriors as she battled stage four pancreatic cancer and stage four colon cancer.  Mitzi continued living life to the fullest throughout her illness and always maintained her positive attitude and sense of humor.

Mitzi died on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 in Marshall.  She is survived by her husband Scott, daughters and sons-in-law Kelli (and Adam) Gamrak and Kristi (and Lennis) Kennedy; grandchildren Payton, Jayden, Matthew, and Levi Gamrak and Ethan and Ella Kennedy; mother-in-law Pat Buckingam, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ryan and Dawn Buckingham, niece Jamie (and Edy) Rivera and nephew Chris (and Nicole) Anderson.  She was preceded in death by her parents Denny and Joan Tomasek, one stillborn brother, paternal and maternal grandparents and father-in-law Ken Buckingham.
