Mass of Christian Burial for Mary (DeSutter) Janssen, 99, of Minneota, will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Ghent. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m. â 8:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at Rehkamp Horvath Funeral Home in Marshall. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. â 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at St. Eloi Catholic Cemetery in Ghent.
Mary Caroline (DeSutter) Janssen was born on August 8, 1919, in Ghent, MN, to Peter and Pauline (Strubbe) DeSutter. She attended Catholic Grade School in Ghent and two years at the School of Agriculture in Morris. On September 16, 1941, she was united in marriage to Peter Janssen at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Ghent. The couple farmed near Minneota until 1954 when they moved to a farm near Marshall. In 1979, they retired to Minneota. Mary was a member of the St. Anneâs Altar Society and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, embroidery, quilting, gardening, rolle bolle, playing cards and visiting with friends and family.
Mary died on Sunday, October 21, 2018, at the Prairie Home Hospice Lockwood House in Marshall. She is survived by her daughter Priscilla (and Hollis) Osborn of Las Vegas, NV, daughter Marilyn (and David) Gannott of Marshall, son Daniel (and Joan) Janssen of Marshall, son Gregory (and Jane) Janssen of Marshall, son Steven (and June) Janssen of Fergus Falls, 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Ruth Ann Janssen of Lancaster, OH, sisters-in-law Sister Helen Janssen and Lucille DeSutter, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Peter, son Richard, son Greg (little Gregie) as a toddler, four siblings and numerous in-laws.
