Mary was born on August 6, 1924, in Ghent, MN, to August and Rose (DePope) Labat. She made her first communion and was confirmed at St. Clotilde Catholic Church in Green Valley. On November 19, 1946, she was married to Harry P. Buysse at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. The couple farmed north of Minneota until they retired in 1982. She enjoyed gardening, square dancing, Rolle Bolle, embroidering dish towels, playing cards and baking chocolate chip cookies and special k bars for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was most passionate about spending time with her family and driving out to the farm to see them work the land and feed the animals.
