Martha Kay Loxterkamp was born on March 22, 1951 to Marvin and Rosella (Stumpf) Loxterkamp in Laurens, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and graduated from Pocahontas High School in Iowa. After high school, Martha did vocational training in Des Moines, Iowa. In 1983, she moved to Marshall where she worked at Comfort Inn, Stanâs Restaurant and Advanced Opportunities. She lived independently for over 25 years. She enjoyed riding her bike, shopping at Wal-Mart, drinking diet coke, going to church and field trips with the REM group home. Martha was very patient, loving and kind.
On Friday, August 25, 2017, Martha passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall at the age of 66.
She is survived by her mother Rosella Loxterkamp of Marshall; siblings Mary Jo (Lavern) Eick, Mark (Sherrie) Loxterkamp and Charlie (Teresa) Loxterkamp; nieces and nephew: Lesa, Kristi, Jill, Lindsey, Whitney, Taylor, Chelsea and Sidney. She was preceded in death by her father Marvin Loxterkamp and brother-in-law Loren Olberding.
