Mass of Christian Burial for Marie B. Guth, 91, of Marshall, will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. â 10:30 a.m. at Rehkamp Horvath Funeral Home in Marshall. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Due to executive order of the Governor of Minnesota, masks or face coverings and social distancing guidelines will be required.
Marie Barbara (Dummer) Guth was born on March 30,1929, in New Ulm, MN. She grew up on a farm in Ridgely Township, Nicollet County until 1944, when her family moved to New Ulm, MN. Marie graduated from Holy Trinity Catholic High School in 1946. Her first job was working at an optical office in New Ulm. On September 1, 1952, Marie married Elmer A. Guth at Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the couple moved to Marshall, MN. She was a very busy homemaker and had worked at JCPenney for over 25 years. Marie was a faithful member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and school. She served as Treasurer of the Council of Catholic Women, was a member in Catholic Daughters, and served on the Funeral Lunch Committee. Marie also was on the Board of Directors at the Adult Community Center in Marshall. She volunteered for hospice, delivered meals on wheels, and was involved with fundraisers for Holy Redeemer School. Marieâs Catholic faith was very important to her. She was a Eucharistic Minister to the homebound, led the rosary at the church, and attended bible studies. She enjoyed her flowers, gardening, playing cards, dominos, bingo, quilting, crocheting, and especially cooking for her family. She was a beloved wife, mother, friend and was very passionate about her family. Marie will be greatly missed by her family for her wisdom, generosity, and kindness.
Marie passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, surrounded by family at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. She is survived by her daughter Diane (Russell) Forstner, their child Jessica (Luke) Johansen, son Thomas (Cathy) Guth, their children Jacob (Amanda), Katy (Jacob) Hemmah and Mary Mullin, daughter Mary Guth, son Anthony (Nancy) Guth, their children Kristen (Adam) Hahn, Eric (Laura) Guth, daughter Barbara (Kim) Christensen, their children Nadia Franta, Miranda (Jared) Deutz, son David (Michael McDeid), great-grandchildren Stella, Gretta and Harrison Guth, Easton and Raya Hemmah, Sydney and Henry Hahn, Parker and Alex Guth, and brother-in-law Roman Guth. She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer A. Guth, son Gregory, grandson-in-law William E. Mullin, parents Martin and Mary Dummer and brother Herbert Dummer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
