Margaret Theresa (Lozinski) Doom was born during a blizzard on February 3, 1936 to Edward and Mary Ellen (Breyfogle) Lozinski in Eidsvold Township, Lyon County. The oldest of eight siblings, she grew up on the family farm, attending country school. She transferred to Minneota High, graduating in 1954. Margaret continued her education at St. Joseph’s in Mankato, attaining her nursing degree. Margaret was a very caring person who always had a smile on her face and always had time to visit neighbors and friends

Margaret married the love of her life, Denis Doom, on September 18, 1956, at St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Taunton. They lived by Canby and Marshall for a brief time before setting roots on a farm north of Minneota. Denis and Margaret farmed and raised livestock together. She helped with the farm, driving tractors, baling hay, and whatever was needed to keep her beloved homestead functioning. Margaret also worked as a nurse at the hospital in Canby before transferring to Weiner Memorial. In 1983, she began working at The Minneota Manor until her retirement at age 70.

Margaret enjoyed gardening and grew many different flowers; her favorites being gladiolus, peonies, irises, daylilies. She also grew a variety of vegetables in her large garden. She was well known for her popcorn balls and Belgian cookies. She was a very good cook. Margaret was very active in many different organizations throughout her life. She was a long-time leader of the Eidsvold Lucky Stars 4-H, a frequent volunteer with the CCW Rosary Guild, and taught Sunday Preschool at St. Edward’s for many years. Margaret was a devout Catholic who never wavered in her faith. She was always busy helping others. Margaret enjoyed traveling with her family and friends. She visited Branson, Europe, and Medjugorje to name a few. Margaret could often be found at her grandchildren’s activities with her heavy camcorder and camera in tow. She beamed with pride when she was with her family.

Margaret passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side at Prairie Senior Cottages in New Ulm on May 17, 2024, after a long-fought battle with Alzheimer’s.
