Mass of Christian Burial for Magdalen “Maggie” Bergstrom, 92, of Marshall, will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with a CCW Rosary at 5:00 p.m. at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall. Visitation will continue on Monday from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at the Remembrance Center. Interment will follow the service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall.
Magdalen was born on January 24, 1934, on a farm near Wabasso in Redwood County to John and Elizabeth (Bernardy) Schueller. She attended grade school in Seaforth and graduated as Valedictorian from St. Anne’s High School in Wabasso in 1952. On June 22, 1953, she was united in marriage to Eugene Bergstrom at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Seaforth. To this union were born four children: daughters Gwen (Roger) Lofgren of La Vista, NE, Audrey (Paul) Volkenant of Odessa, MN, sons David (Barb) Bergstrom and Mark (fiancé Marcella) Bergstrom of Marshall.
Maggie enjoyed spending time with her children and extended families, working at Avera Thrift Shop and for funerals at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Maggie worked at B H Electronics for 23 years. She enjoyed baking and was known for her tea-rings and graduation cakes for her grandchildren. Maggie was a dedicated member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
Maggie died on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at the Fairway View Senior Community in Ortonville, MN. She is survived by her children, 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Eugene, brothers Les, Sylvester, Richard and Lawrence and sisters Marcella Wilhelmi and Rose Van Hecke and other extended family.
