Mass of Christian Burial for Louis J. “Louie” Buysse, 93, of Minneota, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church. Visitation will continue from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Interment with military honors will follow the service at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery in Minneota. Military rites performed by American Legion Post 199 of Minneota and Minneota/Taunton VFW Post 5334. Louis Julius Buysse was born on March 1, 1926, to August and Irene (Dobbleaere) Buysse in Westerheim Township. He received his schooling at the St. Agnes Convent in Ghent. Louie served with the 33rd Infantry in the Philippine Islands with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was united in marriage to Mary Laleman in January 22, 1947 at St. Clotilde Catholic Church in Green Valley. To this union were born children Kenneth, Elaine, Joan, Steven, Annette, David, and Cathy. Louie enjoyed woodworking, reading, square dancing, playing cards, computers and travelling. He was most fond of time spent with his family. He was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the Minneota/Taunton VFW Post 5334, the D.A.V., the American Legion Post 199 and Knights of Columbus. He served as Legion Commander, Adjutant and Sgt of Arms and was a Trustee and Usher at St. Edward Catholic Church. Louie farmed for 37 years and drove school bus and the Minneota Manor bus. Louie died on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at his residence in Minneota surrounded by family and under the care of Prairie Home Hospice. He is survived by his children Kenneth (and Bev) Buysse of Minneota, Elaine (and Dorance) Lacek of Canby, Joan (and Dan) Janssen of Marshall, Steve (and Gail) Buysse of Maple Grove, Annette (and Jon) Fostervold of Willmar, David (and Joy) Buysse of Minneota, Cathy Malvick of Wahpeton, ND, 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary, grandson Jeremiah Fostervold and siblings Harry Buysse, Florence Van Keulen, George Buysse and Wilfred Buysse. Blessed Be His Memory In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Prairie Home Hospice of Marshall.
