Lorraine Rita (Hoffmann) Wagner was born on November 21, 1936, in Vail Township, MN, to Joseph and Mary Elizabeth (Salfer) Hoffmann. Lorraine attended St. Anne’s Catholic School in Wabasso and graduated in 1954. On October 7, 1961, Lorraine was united in marriage to Bernard Wagner at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. The couple lived on a farm west of Wabasso until Bernard’s accidental death early in their marriage. Lorraine was a hard worker, but she never expected recognition. She worked many years at the Wabasso Health Care Center, and she also cleaned many businesses and homes around Wabasso. She also cleaned the rectory at St. Anne’s and took care of various tasks in the church space. She was a member of St. Anne’s CCW and Catholic United Financial. In her free time, Lorraine enjoyed embroidery, quilting, gardening, and baking. She also liked to do puzzles, listen to polka music, and play cards. Lorraine loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a selfless person who enjoyed sharing her time and talents.
Lorraine died on Monday, October 5, 2026, at the New Ulm Medical Center. She is survived by her children James (Mary) Wagner of Belle Plaine and Margaret (Keith) Wambeke of Marshall; grandchildren Alexandra (Dustin) Steinhoff, Taniyah (Christopher) Darsow, Evan Dickey, Courtney Dickey, and Mikal Dickey (Marshall Gressly); 4 great-grandchildren; sister Marcella Gengler; sister-in-law Eleanor (Wagner) Eichten; as well as many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mary Hoffmann; husband Bernard Wagner; siblings Sylvester (Marion) Hoffmann, Alvina (Melvin) Remiger, Louis Hoffmann, Leonard (Kathleen) Hoffmann, Lucy (Norbert) Bernardy, and Cletus (Barbara) Hoffmann; father- and mother-in-law Otto and Martha Wagner; and brothers- and sisters-in-law Cyril Gengler, Delores (Harlan “Butch”) Otto, Gerald (Joan) Wagner, Ronald Wagner, and Arlene (William “Bill”) Rebstock.
Blessed be her memory.
