Lisa Renee Deutz

Mass of Christian Burial for Lisa Deutz, 56, formerly of Marshall, will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church.

Lisa Renee Deutz was born on September 4, 1969, and entered her heavenly home on August 31, 2026, leaving behind a life filled with color, beauty, creativity, love, and above all, deep faith. Born and raised in Marshall, Minnesota, Lisa was one of eight children in a close-knit family. Her family learned early how to make their own creative and imaginative fun, turning even the simplest things—from doing dishes, weeding the garden, or tackling chores together—into games and adventures. There was imagination in the ordinary and laughter in the work! Those early years in the country and at the lake helped shape the faith, love of family, and generous spirit she carried throughout her life.

A country girl at heart with an adventurous spirit, Lisa’s life took her from Marshall to all around the world, seeking to learn and grow. She met her beloved husband Rémi and started heir life together across the ocean in France, where Lisa embraced the language and culture she loved while teaching English. Together they built a life filled with family, friends, adventures, and experiences that crossed countries and cultures. Their journey later brought them to California, where they welcomed their beautiful daughter, Tulipe. As Tulipe grew, Lisa poured herself into being her mother and became deeply involved in her school, generously giving her time and talents as a volunteer. Being Tulipe’s mom was one of the greatest joys and blessings of her life. She loved her tenderly and fiercely, delighted in who she was, and that love was woven into everything she did. The immeasurable love Lisa poured into Tulipe will forever be part of who Tulipe is.

Lisa had a special love for the water, but home was never simply a place on a map. If Lisa could have designed the map herself, there is no doubt that she would have moved the ocean to Minnesota! Home was wherever her family and the people she loved were. Lisa was amazingly creative and possessed an artist’s eye. Even her handwriting was beautiful, distinctive, and unmistakably hers. She had a remarkable gift with words. A text from Lisa was rarely just a text—they were always filled with colorful emojis, encouragement, poetic thoughts, and love. Her messages were little gifts and reminders that you were loved, thought about, prayed for, and never far from her heart. Her words always closed the distance of space and time, keeping life long friendships accumulated over the years and the continents.

To know Lisa was to know an extraordinarily warm and selfless heart. She gave freely of her time, words, encouragement, and herself, rarely asking for anything in return. Lisa looked for and assumed the best in others. Always. She saw people through God’s eyes; she was quick to notice what was beautiful in them, generous with grace, and slow to find fault. At the center of Lisa’s life was her faith and love for God, woven into the way she lived and loved. One of the deepest prayers of her heart was that all would come to know and love God personally.

Lisa leaves us more than memories. She leaves us a beautiful way of living—to look for the good in people, assume the best, and give grace freely. She was quick to notice beauty in God’s creations: noticing sunlight dancing across the water, yellow color of a lemon tree or an impossibly beautiful shade of ocean blue. She was quick to say the loving thing to a stranger that will soon become a new friend and loving people fiercely and infinitely because they are God’s creation; and above all, holding tightly to faith.

Lisa is survived by her husband, Rémi Raphael; their daughter, Tulipe; Rémi’s mother, Roueida; brother Dean (Sheri) Deutz; sister Linda (John) Haugen; sister Ali (Scott) Beekman; brother Jason Bump; sister Lori (Travis) Bosacker; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and friends.

Lisa was reunited in heaven’s embrace by her parents, James Deutz, Mary Bump, and Lyle Bump; her brother, Phillip Deutz; and sister, Kathy Bump.

In lieu of flowers, donations will go to fund education for underprivileged children and/or we invite you to plant flowers or a tree in your own yard to remember and honor our Lisa.
