Linda Marie De Vos

Linda Marie (Lawson) De Vos was born on January 15, 1955, in Marshall, to George and Marjorie (Etrheim) Lawson. She was baptized, received her First Holy Communion and was confirmed at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. She grew up in Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School in 1973. Linda attended and graduated from Willmar Vocational Technical School with a Cosmetology license. She then took a job at the Swift Turkey Plant where she worked for 13 years. On December 2, 1978, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Eugene De Vos at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. To this union they had three children: Lacey, Travis & Matthew. The couple made their home and raised their family in Taunton. Linda was very social. She enjoyed visiting with friends and family at her kitchen table or over the telephone. She was an excellent cook, loved to play cards and shop. She also enjoyed quilting and crocheting. But, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, brought her the most joy and happiness. Linda died unexpectedly on Sunday, February 25, 2018, at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD with her family by her side. She is survived by her husband, Eugene De Vos of Taunton, daughter Lacey (and Jake) Larsen of Marshall, grandchildren Carrington, Ella, Maddox, Beckett, and Lleyton, son Travis De Vos (fiancé Liz Bunjer) of Tyler, grandchildren Ashlyn, Briley, Camber and Dayton, son Matthew De Vos (and Stephanie Hennen) of Minneota, and granddaughter Kaitlynn, a very special cousin Tammy Schoep of Montevideo, all her other cousins, nieces and nephews and many relatives from her husband’s family and her faithful companion Shadow. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Glenda Lawson, infant sister Mary Jane Lawson and Nancy Koch. Blessed be her memory.

You are in my thoughts and prayers. Linda could always liven up a conversation and make her opinion known. I know she loved and adored her grandchildren. I will always see her with a mountain dew to drink. I believe she is resting in God's loving arms.

Linda was a classmate of mine and I will always remember her as being so much fun. She was so bubbly and giggly and could always make me laugh. I am so sorry for your loss.

Despite the distance and time away from Marshall, I still take keen interest in reaching back to my past and learning about 'what happened' to those I went to school with. Receiving news like this is very sad and my heart goes back to her many friends and family. My condolences. Scott
