Leonard Stienessen

Leonard was born April 14, 1941 to John and Mary Stienessen. He is the youngest of seven siblings. He grew up and lived his entire life in Minneota, MN. On April 28, 1973 Leonard was joined in marriage to Julaine Marie (Richards). They lived a life of true commitment, honest love and unwavering support for each other. They had one son, David John who became their proudest accomplishment. Leonard became a father in law to Amy (Rosenquist) Stienessen on October 14, 2000. He wasted no time in welcoming her into the family using his humor and kindness. On December 9, 2003, Leonard became the role he was designed for when his grandson John Christian was born. He was entrusted with that role again on May 26, 2006 with the birth of his granddaughter Norah Mary. Leonard had a very special bond with his grandchildren. He enjoyed bringing them to the farm each October, fishing in the summer and planting potatoes in the spring. He was their guide, teacher, cuddler, and constant fishing buddy. Leonard and John had a bond that was deep, authentic and honored. Leonard attended St. Edwards Catholic School for his education. He was employed as a road construction worker for 25 years. He decided he wanted to be closer to home and became the city maintance manager for the city of Ghent, MN. He kept a meticulous shop and provided the city with years of high quality care and attention. Leonard was greeted into his eternal home by his wife, Julaine; parents John and Mary; brother Robert; and sister Marie. He will be deeply missed by his son, David (Amy) Stienessen and his reasons for fighting as hard as he did, John and Norah. He also leaves behind his grieving brothers Lawerence Stienessen; Harold (Fran) Stienessen; and sisters Geraldine (Willie) Schmitt; Marian Hoffmann. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
