Leonard George Buchholz was born on August 19, 1941, in Wanda, MN, to Leonard and Jennie (Atkins) Buchholz. He grew up and attended school in Ivanhoe. Leonard enlisted and served in the U.S. Army. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Marshall. He worked his entire career for Tholen Auto Sales. In 1982, he was united in marriage to Mary Beth Jenniges. The couple enjoyed travelling, especially their seven Princess Cruises. Leonard enjoyed snowmobiling in his younger years. He also enjoyed Westerns, fishing, cars and playing scratch-off tickets. He was especially fond of spending time with his grandchildren.
Leonard died unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Beth, of Marshall, children Michele Cameron of Parker, CO, Warren (and Jill) Buchholz of Marshall, Brent Buchholz of Everett, WA, Karrie (and Greg) Maas of Lake Crystal, MN, grandchildren Jessica, Jennifer, Steven, Mariah and Jacob, siblings Phyllis Hubner of Avon, SD, Maryann Peyton of Waterloo, IA, David Buchholz of Aitkin, MN, Sandra (and Jerry) Cochran of Mesa, AZ, and Brian (and LaRena) Buchholz of Ghent, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jim Staples, Gary Staples and Dale Staples, and other extended family.
