Leo Louis Lanners was born on September 29, 1921, to John and Catherine (Nosbusch) Lanners in rural St. Leo, MN. He attended St. Leo Parochial School and graduated from Canby High School in 1939. Leo farmed with his dad until he married Marian Wilbur on January 11, 1958 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in St. Paul. They farmed near St. Leo until they retired in 1989 and moved to Marshall. Marian died on December 10, 1998. The couple had no children. Leo lived alone in their Marshall home until he moved to Boulder Estates in Marshall in 2010. In 2015, he moved to the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center. Leo died there on Friday, August 4, 2017.
He was the oldest of a family of seven. He is survived by his sister Vivian Gregoire, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his sisters Agnes and Irene and brothers Alvin, Gilbert and Roger.
