Lawrence "Larry" Dean Schmidt

The funeral service for Lawrence “Larry” Schmidt, 84, of Springfield, formerly of Milroy, will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall.

Larry Dean Schmidt was born on October 1, 1941, in Tracy, to Frank and Theresa (Stattelman) Schmidt. Larry grew up on a farm near Milroy and attended school in Milroy. On November 19, 1966, Larry was united in marriage to Louise “Pat” Blomme at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. He enjoyed a lifetime of farming cattle and pigs. He also liked going to the casino and could visit with anyone. Larry and Louise took many RV trips to Arizona in the winter and Alexandria in the summer.

Larry passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at the St. John’s Lutheran Home in Springfield. He is survived by his wife Louise, brother Don “Dick,” sister Jackie, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Theresa, and siblings Jim, Armond “Lolly,” Pat, Marge, Jane, Bill, Terry, Joe, Gerald “Bud,” Ron, and Caroline “Kitty.”
