The memorial service commemorating the life of Lawrence Carlson, 78, of Westbrook, will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 3, 2025, at the Tracy United Methodist Church in Tracy, MN. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Tracy. Visitation will continue on Friday from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Tracy United Methodist Church. Interment will take place at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery in Currie.

Lawrence John Carlson was born on April 18, 1947, in Tracy, MN, to Herbert and Ruth (Thompson) Carlson. He grew up in Tracy and graduated from Tracy High School. Lawrence was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam during the war. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Tracy and farmed with his dad. In 1972, he was united in marriage to Patricia “Patty” Hansen. The couple lived in Currie, Pipestone, Menahga, and Albert Lea before settling in Westbrook in the late 1980s. Lawrence worked as a meat cutter until 2001. He then began driving over the road trucks for his brother-in-law Jim Hansen and others. After retirement, he drove bus for WWG Schools.

Lawrence was a member of the Lions Club, the Roaring Lions, the American Legion and the VFW. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards. He enjoyed time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Afte a brief cancer illness, Lawrence died at the Our House of Murray County in Slayton, MN. He is survived by his wife, Patty, of Westbrook, daughter Brenda Larsen of Westbrook, grandchildren Benjamin of Redwood Falls and Emma of Westbrook; siblings Roger (Kathy) Carlson of Florida and Vernon (Donna) Carlson of Slayton, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Ruth Carlson, and his son Brian Carlson.
