Lawrence August Buysse

Lawrence August Buysse was born on July 7, 1927, on the family farm in Westerheim Township to Julius and Natalie (Van Dorpe) Buysse. He grew up in rural Minneota, attended school and St. Edward Catholic School and graduated from Minneota High School. On October 8, 1951, he was united in marriage to Janet Roles at St. Leo Catholic Church. In 1952, the couple moved to a farm in Westerheim Township where they raised their family. As a child, Lawrence participated in Golden Glove Boxing. He later enjoyed fishing and hunting trips with his friends. He was talented and enjoyed building projects in his shop. He also enjoyed restoring I-H Tractors. He was a natural story teller and was proud to have a story published in the book “A Living History of Southwest Minnesota: Victory Gardens and Long Handled Dippers”. He was most passionate about farming and his family. He enjoyed feeding his cattle and gardening. After a brief illness, Lawrence died on Thursday, September 14, 2015, at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center, surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife, Janet, of Minneota, children Janell (and Jim) Fligge of Gary, SD, Larry (and Valerie) Buysse of Minneota, Jolynn (and Gary) Johns of Tracy, Julie (and Jim) Bottelberghe of West Union, MN, Sharon (and Rick) Hanson of Echo, MN, Lori Froland of Poway, CA, Lowell (and Ronda) Buysse of Moorhead, 22 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, sisters Marjorie (and Willard) Crosby of Bloomington and Jeanette (and Thomas) Lahr of Arden Hills, MN, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. My deepest sympathy to all of you for the loss of your Lawrence, husband, father, grandfather and friend. I will miss seeing him in church when I come home to visit my Mom. He would always smile and greet me. Seeing Lawrence and Janet always reminded me of 4-H fun-many years ago but seems like just yesterday. Love to you all!

We offer our heartfelt prayers to the Buysse family, as you learn to go on with your lives without the rock that was Lawrence. May you find respite in the memories of a wonderful father and provider, and in the knowledge and joyful anticipation of the day you'll meet him again. May God's peace find you. With deepest sympathy, Mickey (Sharon's husband Rick's other sister) and Doug Speck.

Our love and prayers go out to the entire Buysee family during this difficult time. Mr. Buysee was a wonderful person with a fantastic sense of humor. I hope the family finds some comfort to know he is in the Heavenly Kingdom now, watching over all of you. Kelley and Jon Blumberg (Sharon's husband, Rick, is my brother.)

In this time of sadness may you, Lawrence's family, see God in the faces of friends, hear Him in their voices and feel Him in the touch of their hands. May you all feel the reflected love and kindness at this time when you need Him most. You will honor Lawrence every day in how you live and who you are. With deepest sympathy and love, Merle and Shirley Hanson

Dear Buysse Family, Please except my condolences for the death of your loved one. For each of us- rich or poor, young or old- there are times in our lives when we must face personal losses and the pain and sorrow they cause. Examples that come easily to mind are the death of a parent, spouse, child or other close family member or friend. Please read the comforting promise of Jesus found in John 5:28,29.
