Karen Meutzal

A private family graveside service will be held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall for Karen Meutzal, 62, of Clinton, Iowa.

Karen was born on July 11, 1962, in Marshall, MN, to James and Mary (DesLauriers) Sterling. While living in Marshall, Karen attended Holy Redeemer Catholic School. Later the family moved to Milroy and Karen graduated from Redwood Falls High School. Karen lived most of her adult life in Clinton, Iowa, where she worked for the International Paper Company. She was talented and crafty and she was a dog lover. Karen enjoyed crochet and making jewelry. Her longtime significant other was Paul Pray.

Karen died on May 7, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. She is survived by her companion Paul Pray, mother Mary and step-father Richard of Milroy, siblings Susan (Lloyd) Cafran of North Carolina, Alas (Anna) Sterling of New Jersey, Thomas (Theresa) Moudry of California, William (Gen) Moudry of Marshall and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father James Sterling, brother Rex Sterling, brother Edward Michael and niece Elizabeth York.
