Mass of Christian Burial for Josephine Wenker, 84, of Marshall, formerly of Ghent, will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Ghent. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow the service at St. Eloi Catholic Cemetery in Ghent.

Josephine Emerence (Nuy) Wenker was born on June 22, 1940, in Taunton, MN, to Joseph and Mary (DeVlieger) Nuy. She attended Country School in Minneota and St. Eloi and Central High School in Marshall. On November 12, 1958, she was united in marriage to Virgil Wenker at St. Eloi Church. Josephine lived in Ghent for 58 years then moved to Marshall as her health declined. She worked for Schwan Food Company for many years. Josephine and Virgil owned and operated the Lighthouse on Lake Shaokatan. She also worked at the Westside School as Head Cook. Josephine will be remembered for her countless hours of cross-stitching beautiful baby blankets for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards, sewing, reading a good book, the Farmer’s Market and making the famous V-P Winks Barbeque Sauce. She especially loved trying new restaurants and new foods. Most of all, she loved cooking for her family.

Josephine died on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the Sunrise Manor in Tyler. She is survived by her daughter Rhonda (Bob) Verkinderen of Alexandria, MN, son Kenneth Wenker of Alexandria, MN, daughter Christine (Walter) Carl of Arizona, daughter Sandra (Michael) Polfliet of Ghent, son Jeffrey (Sharon) Wenker of Marshall; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; one great-grandchild on the way; siblings George (Shirley) Nuy, Rosemary Wilmes, Robert (Judy) Nuy, Pauline (Richard) Welvaert, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Virgil Wenker, parents Joseph and Mary Nuy, step-father Laurence Dwire, daughter-in-law Barb Wenker and great-grandchild Rory Thompson.
