The funeral service for Jerry âJoeâ Genzler, 65, of Garvin, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at the Life Remembrance Center Horvath Funeral Service in Balaton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Lakeside Cemetery in Balaton.
Jerry Lawrence Genzler (known affectionately as âCrazy Joeâ to his friends and family) was born on March 27, 1952, in Pierre, SD, to Albert and Hilda âInezâ (Bramlett) Genzler. He graduated from High School in Franklin, MN. Joe lived in a few different local communities and did various jobs before taking a job for the Schwan Food Company in the freezer department. He worked for Schwanâs for more than 30 years, most recently operating a robot in the freezer. On June 16, 1995, he was united in marriage to Lanelle Johnson. The couple lived in Garvin. Joe enjoyed Harley Davidson Motorcycles and following NASCAR. He also enjoyed reading, playing computer games, woodworking and tinkering with things.
After suffering a variety of chronic health issues, Joe died on Friday, March 23, 2018, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. He is survived by his wife, Lanelle, of Garvin, MN; daughter Tammy Steele of Tyler, MN, and son Lewis Genzler of Stacy, MN; grandchildren Zora, Ben, Joey, Lilly and Jacob; great-grandchildren Willow and Anna; siblings Marty Genzler of Concord, CA, Dan Genzler of Peoria, AZ, Patti (and Glenn) Jeremiason of Taunton, MN, Norma (and George) Mercer of Beatrice, NE, Dave Genzler of Loma, CO; sister-in-law Barb Genzler of Beaver Falls, PA; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Rob.
