Jeanette S. Walters age 77 of Balaton, MN died Monday, January 4, 2016 at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Balaton. Services will be 10:30 AM Friday, January 8, 2016 at the Balaton Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Thursday, January 7, 2016 at the Almlie-Horvath Funeral Home in Balaton, with a prayer service held at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. A luncheon will be served immediately following the service in the church social hall. Interment will be in the Danebod Lutheran Cemetery in Tyler, MN on Saturday at 10:00 AM. The Almlie-Horvath Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Jeanette Selma Walters was born March 4, 1938 to Herluf and Laura (Christensen) Faaborg in Tyler, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended Tyler Public Schools, graduating from Tyler High School in 1956. As a young woman she attended Flight Attendant Training and worked as a Deputy County Treasurer.
In March 23, 1962, Jeanette married Andrew Walters and they made their home on a farm near Ghent, MN. They moved to a farm in the Amiret, MN area for a short time before moving to a farm near Balaton, MN. She remained on the farm until the mid-1990âs when she moved in a home in Balaton.
Over the years Jeanette worked for the Marshall Hospital, Woolworthâs and the Marshall Library. She was a member of the Balaton Woman of Today, Rock Lake Extension Club, Neighborhood Good Will and the Balaton American Legion Auxiliary, serving as secretary in 1977. Jeanette enjoyed working at the library, reading, gardening, Knitting and crafts, baking, cooking, playing cards and canning. She will also be remembered for her amazing baked buns, that no one could ever duplicate, no matter how hard it was tried.
In 2010, Jeanette became a resident of the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Balaton, where she died, Monday, January 4, 2016 at the age of 77.
Jeanette, lovingly remembered as âTutâ, is survived by her three sons, Glenn Walters of Balaton, MN, Gregg (Brenda) Walters of Woodbury, MN and Terry Walters of Balaton, MN; three grandchildren, Jessica, Kyle and Ryan; two great grandchildren, Jayden and Jocelyn; one sister, Sharon (Dan Clark) Faaborg of Bay Point, CA; two brothers, Allen Faaborg of Pipestone, MN and Doug (Lona) Faaborg of Custer, SD; one sister-in-law, Jolean Faaborg of Tyler, MN; nieces, nephews and friends.
Her parents, one grandson, David, and one brother, Dennis Faaborg preceded her in death.
