The funeral service for Jeanette Hovland, 66, of Minneota will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 1, 2019, at Hope Lutheran Church in Minneota. Visitation will be Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 4:00 p.m.â7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Rehkamp Horvath Funeral Home in Minneota. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at Hope Lutheran Church. Interment will take place following the service at Hope Lutheran Cemetery.
Jeanette Mary (Hanson) Hovland was born on May 21, 1952 in Clear Lake, SD, to Helmer and Lillian (Eckhardt) Hanson. She grew up in Canby and was Baptized and Confirmed at Our Saviorâs Lutheran Church. She attended school in Canby and later received her GED. In 1970, Jeanette married Duane Hancock in Canby. To this union were born two children, a daughter Melissa, and a son Timothy who died in infancy. After Duaneâs death in 1973, Jeanette married Mark Hovland on June 26, 1976 at Hope Lutheran Church in Minneota. To this union was born a daughter, Mindy. Jeanette worked many jobs throughout her life, including home daycare, Schottâs Corporation, and as a CNA at the Minneota Manor for many years. Jeanette enjoyed having coffee and drinks with her friends, as well as going to birthday club. She loved shopping and talking with people, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter.
Jeanette died on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the Sanford Select Specialty Hospital in Sioux Falls. She is survived by her husband Mark of Minneota; daughters Melissa (Brian) Redding of Marshall and Mindy (Dustin) Kennedy of Sioux Falls, SD; granddaughter Brookelyn Redding; step-grandchildren Kirby, Aubrey, and Brody Kennedy; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Duane, infant son Timothy, sister Sharon Johnson, and brother Robert Hanson.
