Jean Carol Paul

Jean Carol (Thompson) Paul was born on February 17, 1931, in Fortier Township, Yellow Medicine County, to John Martin and Elsie (Carlson) Thompson. She grew up and graduated from school in Canby. On November 26, 1949, she was married to William “Smiley” Paul in Canby. The couple made their home and raised their family in Marshall. Jean was an excellent homemaker. She was very fond of cleaning her house, cooking, baking, and tending to her kids and grandkids. She never forgot a birthday and she was looking after her family right up until her death. She also enjoyed flower gardening, playing Yahtzee, cards and bingo. In her younger years, Jean enjoyed watching her twin brothers race stock cars. Jean died on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at her home in Marshall, under the care of Prairie Home Hospice and surrounded by family. She is survived by her children Brenda (and Harlowe) Sumner of Dawson, Steve (and Deb) Paul of Vesta, Al (and Janice) Paul of Marshall, Tab (and Diane) Paul of Foreston, Sharon Paul of Marshall, Kim (and Jeremy) Barck of Marshall, 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-greatgrandchild, sisters-in-law Karen and Joyce Thompson, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter Holly Jean Paul, two brothers and three sisters. May she rest in peace.
