Mass of Christian Burial for Jean Neisius, 85, of Marshall, will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the church.  Interment will follow the service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall.  A livestream and recording of the service will be available at www.holy-redeemer.com.

Jean was born on January 8, 1938, on the family farm in Lincoln County to Leo and Mary (Gladis) Dritz.  She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Wilno.  Jean graduated from Canby High School in 1956.  She then worked at the bank in Minneota.  On May 14, 1960, she was united in marriage to Leon Neisius at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Wilno.  Jean and Leon lived in North Mankato for the first six years of their marriage where Jean worked at the First National Bank.  In 1966, her family moved to Marshall where they raised their three children: Lori, Mark and Leah.  Jean worked at Stone’s Ladies Fashions after her youngest child started school.  Later on, she worked at Millers Fashions. 

Jean was a member of the Council of Catholic Women and the Catholic Daughters of America.  In her younger years, she was active in church, school and community activities.

Jean died on Monday, January 1, 2024, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.  She is survived by her husband, Leon, children Lori (John) Daley of North Mankato, Mark (Megan) Neisius of Maple Grove, Leah Brown (fiancé Kevin Wick) of St. Louis Park; grandchildren Matthew (Alina) Daley, Megan Daley (Dylan Jones), Isabel Neisius and Hunter Brown and Ryder Brown; great-grandchildren Ellie, Finnegan and Jack Daley; brothers Ronald (Diane) Dritz and Lee (Elaine) Dritz and other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her sister Joyce, parents Leo and Mary Dritz, in-laws Ralph and Mary Neisius. 

Jean’s husband, children and family were grateful for having shared her life.  May God give them comfort and may His peace be with us all.
