Janet Marie (Roles) Buysse was born on March 30, 1933 at home in Burton Township, north of Minneota, to Mathias and Luella (Dahl) Roles. She attended grade school in St. Leo and graduated from Canby High School in May of 1950. Following graduation, Janet attended Nurses Training at Rice Hospital in Willmar, MN. She received $50 per month while working at the hospital and attending classes. She graduated in September of 1951 with an LPN degree.
Janet was united in marriage to Lawrence Buysse on October 8, 1951 at St. Leo Catholic Church. Janet started working at Weiner Memorial Hospital in Marshall. On March 1st of 1952, they moved to the âBuysse farmâ northeast of Minneota, where they farmed for forty-four years. They were members of St. Edward Catholic Church. Janet was on the first Parish Council in 1977. Janet served as president of the Joan of Arc, and head of Mission Sewing, even though she couldnât even sew. Janet was proud of her role as 4-H leader of 14 years for the Westerheim Flashing Stars, as well as being a member of the Westerheim Rural Life extension club from 1954 to present. Janet and Lawrence enjoyed many travels, including many bus tours. In the fall of 1996, Janet and Lawrence moved to their new home in Minneota.
Family meant everything to Janet. Lawrence and Janet were blessed with seven children: Janell (Jim) Fligge of Gary, South Dakota, Larry (Valerie) Buysse of Minneota, Jolynn (Gary) Johns of Tracy, Julie (Jim) Bottelberghe of West Union, Sharon (Rick) Hanson of Echo, Lori (fiancé Brett) Froland of San Diego, California, and Lowell (Ronda) Buysse of Moorhead. Janet loved spending time with her 22 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Janet resided in her home in Minneota until August 1st of 2016. She spent her last 6 days in the Minneota Manor, where she found delight in doing activities and visiting other residents. Janet died on Sunday, August 7th, 2016 at the Minneota Manor.
Janet is survived by her seven children, sister Doris Stachowski and sister-in-law Carol Roles, in-laws Jeannette Lahr, Marjorie and Willard Crosby, Tony Kopka and many friends in the Minneota community. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence, her parents Mathias and Luella, siblings Leona Eischens, Irene Kopka, Gene Roles, Edward Roles and brother-in-law Tom Lahr.
