Jacquelyn "Jackie" Cecile Skillings

Mass of Christian Burial for Jacquelyn “Jackie” Skillings, 58, of Minneota, will be Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church. A walk-through visitation will take place on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Jacquelyn “Jackie” Cecile (Holler) Skillings was born on November 22, 1961, in Browerville, MN, to Herman and Pressley “Pat” (Guynes) Holler. She graduated from Browerville High School and received her BS in Education from Moorhead State University. In 1984, she was united in marriage to Joel Skillings. To this union were born children Ashley, Tanner and Christian. The couple each taught in New Town, ND for four years. In 1988, they moved to Minneota where Jackie has taught at St. Edward Catholic School for over 30 years. She enjoyed the simple things in life and was passionate about teaching and about her family. She was thrilled to recently become a Grandma to Aria. Jackie also enjoyed cooking, traveling and reading. Jackie served as the Student Exchange Program Coordinator for many years and the couple extended their family by hosting several students. For reasons the family may never, quite understand, Jackie passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by family, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, on Saturday, May 23, 2020. She is survived by her husband, Joel, of Minneota, daughter Ashley (and Joshua) Oistad of Mankato, granddaughter Aria, son Tanner Skillings, currently working for the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand, son Christian Skillings, currently teaching for the Britannica International School in Shanghai, China, sister Jo Ann (and John) Stevens of Austin, TX, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, exchange students Simon, Alessia, Jochem, and all the students she helped along the way. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jyeton.
