Isabelle Fier

Isabelle Marie Van Den Broecke was born on February 20, 1923, in Grandview Township to Edward and Myrtie Van Den Broecke. When she was growing up, she and her family lived in a variety of farms in the area and Isabelle attended Rural School District 6. On June 22, 1948, she was united in marriage to Raymond Fier at Sts Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church. The couple farmed and raised their family in Alta Vista Township. For the last ten years, Isabelle has been living in care centers in Canby and Minneota. The couple enjoyed square dancing and for a time were leaders of the Jolly Mixers Square Dancing club. Isabelle was a faithful Catholic. She taught 5th grade catechism for many years and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was an excellent cook and will be remembered for baking, apple pie, and fried chicken. She will also be remembered for her very kind and gracious demeanor. Isabelle died on Friday, October 9, 2015, at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall. She is survived by her children Joe (and JoAnn) of Taunton, Sharon of St. Louis Park, Mike (and LuAnn) of Minneota, nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, sister Ione Engels of Minneota, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son Michael Paul, grandson Neil, and four siblings.
