Henry “Hank” Goblish was born on August 28, 1936, in Henryville Township to George and Lucy (Houdek) Goblish. He was born in his maternal grandparents’ home and was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bechyn, MN, on September 13, 1936. Shortly after his birth he moved to his parent’s home by Vesta, MN. It was a farm owned by Grandpa Goblish. He lived there with his parents and his older brother Don.
When Hank was 21 years old, he joined the Army. He had his basic training at Fort Carson, CO, and then was stationed in Washington, DC, as a Staff Car driver. The motor pool was in the Pentagon. He drove in John Foster Dulas’ funeral processional. We also have heard that he got to drive Elvis Presley in his Motor Car. He was out of the service on July 24, 1959, (3 months early) because his father was ill with cancer.
On September 22, 1960, Hank was united in marriage to Rosie Blake. To this union four children were born: Jim, Deb, Julie, and John. Rosie passed away in the Summer of 1998.
Hank worked at Harvest States for 41 years. After retirement he volunteered for Western Human Development for years. He was an active member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Hank enjoyed playing cards and bingo with family and friends, traveling, as well as spending time with his family. He also enjoyed being outside hunting, fishing, and camping.
On November 24, 2000, Hank was united in marriage to Lorraine Coquyt. The couple enjoyed traveling, cruises, winter breaks in Laughlin, NV, and spending time with family and friends.
Hank died on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at his residence in Marshall. He is survived by his children James (and Paula) Goblish of Marshall, Debra Henline of Minneota, Julie (and Chad) Banish of Ghent; Lorraine’s children Rhonda (and David) Weiler of Union Mills, IN, Robyn Coquyt of Shoreview, Reed (and Mary) Coquyt of Minneota; 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; and siblings Joseph (and Darlene) Goblish, Mary (and Victor) Sinave, and George (and Judy) Goblish.
