Glenn Thomas Horky

A private interment of Glenn Horky, 74, of Marshall will be held at the Marshall Cemetery in Marshall. A private family memorial service is being planned for a later date.

Glenn Thomas Horky was born on June 2, 1951, to Benjamin and Grace (Christensen) Horky. He grew up on a farm near Hector and received his education in Hector, graduating in the class of 1969. He attended St. Cloud State University, majoring in math and computer science. During high school and in the summers during college, Glenn worked at a gas station in Cosmos. After college he worked at Southwest Minnesota State University for almost 40 years. Glenn believed in God and believed in Jesus as his savior.

In 1973, Glenn was united in marriage to Sharon Schiro. They were married over 52 years. This marriage was blessed with two children, Ryan and Kristine. Things Glenn enjoyed in life included bowling, softball, ping pong, playing cards, woodworking, pipestone carving, watching the San Francisco 49ers on TV, and traveling with Sharon. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, and friends.

Glenn died on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. He is survived by his wife Sharon Horky; son Ryan Horky and girlfriend Tenezee of Fargo; daughter Kristine Knopp and husband Toby of Marshall; grandchildren Sam Horky, Gabriana Horky, Luke Knopp, Jason Knopp, Jacob Knopp; siblings Steve (Linda) Horky, Keith (Kathy) Horky, and Charlie (Twyla) Horky; and many other relatives and friends. Glenn was preceded in death by his granddaughter Grace Horky in infancy, parents Benjamin and Grace Horky, and father- and mother-in-law Marvin and Elaine Schiro.
