George Victor Timmerman was born on May 12, 1943 to Rene and Alida (Maeyaert) Timmerman in Clarkfield, MN. He was the fifth of eight children and spent his younger years on a farm near St. Leo, MN. In 1950, they moved to a farm just outside of Balaton, MN which became the family farm homestead. As a child, George had fun horsing around on the farm with his siblings; when the chores were done of course. He was involved in several different sports and activities in high school such as basketball and FFA. He graduated from Balaton High School in 1961 and went on to serve in the U.S National Guard for 6 years from 1962-1967. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Church and carried his faith with him throughout his life.

On August 28, 1965, George was united in marriage to the love of his life, Maxine Delores Paulson in Tracy, MN at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary and have shared a memorable life together. Starting out, they lived on the homestead to help out with the farm work. They then lived in a mobile home in several different cities of Iowa while George worked in road construction for 12 years. They welcomed their first daughter Patricia in 1966, their second daughter Connie in 1967, and their third daughter Sherrie in 1971. They bought a house in Eldridge, Iowa when Patty was ready to start school. No matter how busy George was, he always took the time for the important moments which included taking the girls to Happy Joe’s Pizza for their birthdays and a family vacation to six flags. He was a devoted father and husband.

In 1977, George moved his family back home to take over the family farm and become a farmer full-time. They had cows, pigs, crops, and even chickens one year. Later on, he mostly farmed corn and beans for crops, and did farrow-to-finish farming with pigs. He loved farming and helping with the gardening & canning. He preferred working outside on different projects and wasn’t one to sit around. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.

During the off season, he made many different things out of wood and iron. George farmed up until his retirement in 2025. George was a hard-working man that didn’t stop until the job was done. When he did rest, he enjoyed watching The Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune and RFD TV. George and Maxine fancied traveling and went to many different places including Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Missouri and Hawaii. The yearly family vacation to Wisconsin Dells was among one of his favorites. He always had a ball working on puzzles and playing cards with friends and family.

George died peacefully at home surrounded by family late on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 after his battle with cancer. He was a beloved husband, father, grand-father, and great grand-father. He will be greatly missed and his memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.

George is survived by his wife, Maxine; his daughters, Patty (Eric) Miller and Connie Timmerman (special friend Dylan); three grandchildren, Elizabeth Timmerman, Justin Miller (Angie), and Samantha Miller; three great grandchildren, Damien Zadlo, Melanie Peterson, and Deklan Miller; and seven siblings, Clara Timmerman, Martha Buchholz, Marian Stickler, Fred (Carol) Timmerman, Charles (Gloria) Timmerman, Alice Zeug, and Francis (Mary) Timmerman.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Sherrie Timmerman and his parents, Rene and Alida Timmerman.
