Genevieve “Genny” Mae (DeMeyer) Sammons was born on February 8, 1935, in rural Marshall to Charles and Mary (Cauwels) DeMeyer.  She grew up in Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School.  On September 27, 1958, she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Sammons at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.  To this couple were born children Doug, Steve, and Diane.  The family lived in Marshall and when the kids were in school, Genny went to work as the HBC Manager at Hy-Vee.  She was a woman of strong faith and a wry sense of humor.  She and Bill were involved with Marriage Encounter Weekends and the Catholic Renew groups.  Genny was very tidy and meticulous.  She was a 20 year cancer survivor. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, playing cards and was an excellent cook and baker. Genny really enjoyed her family. She looked forward to the family reunions and time with her children and grandchildren.
