Mass of Christian Burial for Genevieve Ahmann, 94, of Marshall, will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with a CCW Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a Parish Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at the Remembrance Center. Interment will follow the service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall.
Genevieve Agnes (VanDorpe) Ahmann was born on May 25, 1932, to Camiel and Alma (Bjerksestrand) VanDorpe. She attended St. Edward Catholic School and Minneota High School. After her schooling, she took a waitressing job in Marshall. On July 23, 1955, she was united in marriage to Duane Ahmann at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota. The couple made their home and raised their family in Marshall. Genevieve worked at different jobs including many years as a Clerk at the Coast to Coast Store and doing housekeeping at Weiner Memorial Hospital. She was very active in her community and volunteered for many organizations including the Avera Gift Shop, Prairie Home Hospice, Bloodmobile, Catholic Daughters of America, and the VFW Auxiliary. Genevieve enjoyed time with her friends and her family. She belonged to a couple of bridge groups and she was very fond of family gatherings; birthday parties and holiday gatherings.
Genevieve died on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall due to congestive heart failure. She is survived by her children Greg (Debra) Ahmann of Marshall, Mike (Denise) Ahmann of Minneota, Al Ahmann of Minneota, Bryan (Julie) Ahmann of Marshall, Doug (Kris) Ahmann of West Haven, UT; grandchildren Josh (Christine) Ahmann, Christopher Ahmann, Abby (Joe) Thostenson, Craig (Candice) Ahmann, Sarah (Greg) Wilwert, Jennifer (Harvey) Klinger, Christina Ahmann, Eric (Abby) Ahmann, Breanna (Andrew) Thompson, Alyssa (Dawsyn) Deutz, Curt (Angel) Ahmann, Nic (Shalee) Ahmann, Justin Ahmann, Kyle (Lyss) Ahmann and Jessi Ahmann, 32 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Duane, son John, grandson Craig and siblings Alice Determan, Ray VanDorpe, Bernice Fry, Delores Sussner, Vincent VanDorpe, and Andrew VanDorpe.
