Gary Gene Josephson

September 8, 1956 — November 10, 2025

Gary Gene Josephson, age 69, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 10, 2025, in Madison, MN. He was born on September 8, 1956, in Clarkfield, MN, to Roseville “Rozy” Josephson and Jeanne (Flood) Josephson.

Gary left school in 10th grade and joined the U.S. Army, where he served until 1975. He earned his GED later in life. Following his service, he worked a variety of jobs, including mechanic, construction, and truck driving, before opening Josephson Repair in Minneota and later in Taunton. He proudly ran his own shop until his retirement in 2011.

On May 19, 1979, Gary married Anna Grengs, and together they welcomed four daughters: Nichole, Kari, Traci, and Brandi. Gary loved spending time with family, and his face would always light up when someone came to visit. Even through the challenges of dementia, he never forgot who his family was. He also had a passion for fishing and racecars and cherished every moment at the racetrack. Owning and driving his own racecar, 56J, was one of the great highlights of his life.

Gary is survived by his daughters: Nichole Josephson, Kari Josephson (and Chris Vlaminck), Traci (and Jesse) Orvis, and Brandi (and Scott) Stefansen. His grandchildren: Harley (and Breman) Ulrich, Marcus Josephson (and BryAnn Miles), Michael (and Lina) Josephson, Konner Josephson, Dantae Orvis, Dalton Orvis, Brandon Pella, Destiny Orvis, Aubrey Stefansen, Angelica Towne, LilyAnn Stefansen, and Matthew Stefansen. And his great-grandchildren: Emmett and Kinsley; Owen, Hazley, and Blaze, plus another one on the way. Gary is preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Madison Nursing Home for the love and care they gave our father. He was known by many as “silver fox” and received many compliments about his hair. Even when it was difficult for us to leave after visits, the staff always helped comfort and distract him, easing our hearts each time.

The family invites you to the Senior Center in Taunton, MN on November 23, 2025 from 3pm-8pm to celebrate the life of Gary.
